New York: Brooklyn

– ‘Welcome to Brooklyn. How Sweet is it!’

A sign welcoming you to Brooklyn as you enter by road!

Brooklyn Bridge at Night

Brooklyn Bridge at night is one of my favorite spots in New York. A really beautiful walk at night with the stunning skyline in the backdrop. It’s 1.3 miles which can take roughly 25 minutes but it took me much longer as I was walking slowly taking in the view. This is a great resource on all you need to know about the Brooklyn Bridge.

I didn’t spend much time in Brooklyn but I found this spot with another amazing view of the New York skyline.

When in New York watch out for giant rats! ‘Scabby the Rat’ is a symbol of unionized labor and construction protests in New York. In 2011, the National Labor Relations Board in 2011, stated that as per the Frist Amendment, Scabby represents a form of symbolic speech. A federal judge in Brooklyn backed the right of local laborers’ union to use the rat in a protest in 2014. That’s probably why I caught him in Brooklyn, he even has his own Twitter account @scabbytherat.

I spent a bit of time in the trendy area of Williamsburg and Prospect Park, but there was still a lot to see and do. I also missed the photo opportunity at Dumbo, I’ll be back for it!
